So I've wanted to post for the past few weeks (er, months) and just haven't had a "great" topic - or time - or those two just haven't coincided. So I'm just going to go for it. I have a moment!!!
It's interesting the adjustment with the girls - going from one almost-walker - to two RUNNING around children. And going from 1 at 1 - to TWO at 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. But that's another post for another day.
I have moments where everything seems great. And others where I don't think I can do this for a minute more. Aha! Motherhood.
Today I'm having a good day. But I have been trying to get my girls to EAT. Something. Breakfast seems to go well, but as the day goes by, they seem to eat less. I know this is "normal" for appetites to be low and for pickiness to be showing itself. But they are both small. Need Food.
Both of them are VERY picky. Many times the one that WAS eating sees the other one NOT eating and decides whatever it is, is totally yucky now. And I'm really not feeding them weird stuff. Cheese, strawberries, crackers, cereal, even pizza. All of these things have been rejected on numerous occasions. And I have the only two kids in America it seems that HATE french fries, and all potatoes for that matter. Not that I really want them eating fries, but it would be something.
I got this cookbook "No Whine with Dinner" - it's great for ideas, meals and snacks. And it's healthy and easy to do too! I found a fun recipe for jello wigglers - not from the pack, but made with real fruit and juice. The juice that they both like and the fruit that they both like. And they love jello. Completely rejected. Several times. I'm trying here!! Aren't kids supposed to love those? And then this afternoon I made guacamole. I actually had them help (well, only H helped) and she said "yummy!" We will see when they both partake of it at the table how "yummy" it will be... The little one used to LOVE avocado. But I have my doubts about this.
